BOPE PMPR

The Special Operations Squad (BOPE) is a Military Police Organization directly subordinate to the General Comand of the Military Police of ParanĂ¡ (PMPR). The corporation acts on special operations and it is equiped to operate in all of the state of ParanĂ¡.
In 1964, Capitan Goro had received the mission of creating a special operations unit inside the Military Police of the State, the Special Operations Company (COE) was then created.
The COE/BOPE has special units to deal with risky situations: Negotiation Team, Assault Team, Snipers Team, Bomb Squad, Hounds Central.

Motto: Primus Inter Pares (First among equals)

Another agency that allows us to draw a parallel with BOPE/COE is SWAT, from the US. Special Weapons and Tactics teams are police units in the US that are specialized on military equipment and tactics, First created in the 1960s for riot control or violent confrontations with gunmen, the number and usage of SWAT teams increased in the 1980s and 90s during the War on Drugs and after the September 11th attacks.
They also have hostage rescue teams, emergency service units, special response units, manhunt units and special reaction teams.
